THE NUTS AND BOLTS

A guide to how the process works for calligraphy and letterpress

1:Letterpress

How does the design process work?  How long will my invitations take?

Tried and True Designs:

First things first, email me so we can discuss what design you'd like, the details of your event, and the colors you'd like.  Once I have your details, I'll send you a pdf sample of your suite for approval.  Once you approve the design(s), I'll cast the plates through Boxcar Press, in Syracuse, NY.  Platemaking takes approximately 3-5 days, and the actual pressing part takes about 10 days, depending on the size of your order.

Custom Designs:

Drop me a line and let me know you're interested in a custom design- I'll send you an invoice for the custom invitation suite design fee ($150). This fee basically "sells" you the rights to all designs, which means at any time if you'd like to change your mind and get your enclosures printed at a local print shop instead of getting them pressed, you can do so, it's your design!  I will work directly with you to design your suites.  I'll ask for any inspiration you've compiled, {for example, a Pinterest board}..  Once I have an idea of what you're looking for, I will send you a couple of designs as pdf's for you to review.  You let me know what you like/don't like about each, and I will make the needed edits until you end up with something you love!  Once you've approved the designs, you'll receive an invoice for the cost of the suites as well as return shipping.

2:Calligraphy

How do I go about getting calligraphy services?

First step- send me an email!  We'll talk font, color, format and dates.  You'll send the total number of envelopes (including at least 10% extra!) to me, along with your master guest list in block format (see below for what that looks like).  As soon as I have all of your materials, I'll get to work!  I will complete two or three envelopes, and send you a picture so that you can have a sneak peek at the work, and make sure the format is what you wanted. After I've completed your order, your envelopes will ship home to you.  Now all that's left to do is stuff, stamp and send 'em out!  Unless you want me to do that, in which case add the "signed, sealed, delivered" option to your order.

3:Shipping

How does shipping work?  Do you offer rush shipping?

Shipping is a flat $10 fee for domestic orders; if you're abroad I will send you a separate PayPal invoice once your shipping costs are calculated.  As an example, a shipment of 100 suites to Australia cost $60 in 2014.

I do offer rush services on orders- the fee is $25 for calligraphy and $75 for invitations, and depends on availability.
